Happiness is a Bike Ride on the Charles River

So my little bike ride turned into today’s workout. Don’t you love it when you’re running an errand, but accidentally discover a whole new joyous adventure? Eric often tells me how cool the paths are up in the Watertown/Newton line and he was right. I usually ride my bike along the Charles River in Boston and Cambridge, but today I took his suggestion. It’s like a complete different world!

The best thing about the Charles is the variety. In the city, you have wide open paths. People come to frolic for a day out in the sun along the river. Then in the towns, you can find yourself blissfully alone on narrow, shady paths filled with all kinds of foliage and wildlife. I could go on for pages on how much I love the Charles, but I’ll stay on target and save my Ode to the Charles for another day.

I don’t know how far I went or where I was, but I returned an hour later and then realized I had accidentally conquered today’s workout.

Great success!

  1. Excellent. I’ve been walking for exercise, which is a lot of fun, but you don’t get as far in a half-hour workout. :)
