A bicycle, to be more specific. I’d kill myself on a Harley.
After work, I had plans to see a friend who just had a baby. Only rush hour was kicking in and the square gets insane. So “genius” moment – take the bike!
Instead of my blood boiling while stuck at the same red light for cycle after cycle, I rode along the river and get a 40 minute bike ride in round trip. Happiness rather than frustration.
When I got home, I decided to give the Spartan WOD a try. The instructions were simple and it was only 30 minutes. They suggested 3-10 burpees on the minute for 15 minutes, followed by 3-10 jumping lunges (each side, I presume) on the minute for 15 minutes.
Ok, after minute 3, I was ready to say screw this and go on to do whatever Lisa workout I wanted. But, I put on some cheesy CD and kept going until the end was in sight. My little girl came along to cheer me on and count down the minutes (actually, she was counting down the minutes until I was done so she could watch Shark Week). Nevertheless, she was motivating.
Woo hoo! I did the max each minute. Sweet! And I ended with 5 minutes of abs.
Not bad for a day that I didn’t think I’d even find time to workout. So once again, I’ll close with Happiness is a Bike Ride. You lose the commute in favor of fresh air, exercise, and fun!
